Officers responded to the 1100 block of Townsend Boulevard at approximately 8:20 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 24, following the suspect’s call.
When they arrived, they found Jaydon Mathew Staples flagging them down outside the residence.
Officers detained Staples, who surrendered the weapon and cooperated with officers at the scene, according to the Fredericksburg County Police Department.
Inside the apartment, officers discovered the victim suffering from severe injuries to his lower abdomen.
First responders administered aid until paramedics arrived to rush him to an area hospital, where he underwent surgery and is recovering as of Wednesday, Nov. 27.
The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery and is now recovering.
Staples was charged with malicious wounding/felonious assault under Virginia Code 18.2-51 and is being held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.
The incident remains under investigation.
